Make your own apple pie spice to use in all your favorite fall recipes! No need to buy an extra jar of a premade blend this year. Make your own and enjoy!

Fall baking is here and boy oh boy, am I excited! Every apple, pumpkin, cinnamon, and pecan flavored treat brings a little extra joy even on the most normal of days. The simple pleasures that fill each season should be cherished to the fullest extent.

Making your own apple pie spice blend will come in handy in your kitchen this fall. Use it in pies, cookies, hot ciders, and even your oatmeal for added fall goodness! I also make my own pumpkin pie spice mix while I'm at it and store them side by side in cute labeled jars.

Whether you are baking with apple pie spice or vanilla sugar, it is sure to be delicious! Get your jars ready, let's get to work!

What is apple pie spice made of?

    • Cinnamon
    • Cardamom
    • Nutmeg
    • Ginger
    • Allspice
    • Cloves

Want to make your apple pie spice recipe without cardamom? It's okay! Leave it out, this is your homemade blend and if you don't like cardamom (or if you simply don't have it) you can choose to not use it.

Why make your own apple pie spice mix?

    • Versatile ingredients - Making your own blend means you get to customize the flavor! Experiment by adding a little extra of what you like or a little less of what you don't!
    • Nothing added - No need to check the label for anything funky that may be added! Making it yourself means you know exactly what's in your spice blend. I use organic ingredients in mine.
    • Adding to the collection - My spice cabinet is constantly being added to! It truly looks more like a collection than kitchen items. I like to buy all the individual spices to make my own apple pie spice and pumpkin pie spice blends as well as to have all the spices on hand for other baking endeavors. This ensures I have all of these spices and can save a buck by not buying blends on top of all those seasonal spice favorites!

How to use apple pie spice

    • Baking - Use your DIY apple pie spice in everything from apple pie to baked oatmeal!
    • Warm beverages - This apple pie spice mix is a welcome addition to your hot tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and even warm cider! Stir it in and sip away!
    • Garnish - Sprinkle some on top of whipped cream to make it extra lovely! This works beautifully on autumnal pies and even on your next mug of buttered hot cider! (Whipped cream on top is a must!)
