Crafting this simple rose bath salts recipe takes less than five minutes! Gift a rose bath to someone you love or store the jar in your own bathroom for a lovely bath night ahead. The light floral scent is just enough to set a lovely scene without it being overpowering. (No essential oils necessary! This also means no emulsifier necessary, so it's fewer ingredients.)
Herbal Bath products are near and dear to my heart. This sweet little jar of rose herbal bath salts sits alongside my homemade facial oil, herbal oatmeal bath bombs, my calendula salve, and what's leftover of my postpartum bath tea! (And seriously, so much more...I display almost everything homemade in my bathroom because it's all so gorgeous!)
Soaking in the tub after a long day out in the garden during the summer or warming up after time in the cold of winter is truly the best. It's so relaxing and when you use the right additives, it can ease your mind and your sore muscles. Herbs and salts are simple ingredients that are easy to combine and store for whenever your next bath is drawn.

Can you use fresh rose petals in bath salts?
It is best to use dried rose petals to create your herbal bath salts. The moisture content in fresh petals can cause mold to grow in your jar. BUT you can take some fresh rose petals and let them float in your bath or use them decoratively around your bath for added beauty! Just be sure you are using clean rose petals and not the ones that can be found in the grocery store. Those bouquets are typically heavily sprayed with all sorts of chemicals you don't want in your bathwater.
Benefits of rose bath salts:
- Rose (Rosa Centifolia) is known for its astringent properties, rose is perfect for supporting your skin when it comes to dry skin, acne, redness, and irritation. Roses have lovely skin-toning qualities and a gorgeous scent.
- Epsom Salts are widely used to soothe sore muscles, reduce internal inflammation, and even ease the pain of headaches.
- Himalayan Pink Salt is often used in bath salts for its magnesium. This salt can support blood circulation and ease allergy symptoms. It can also ease symptoms of various skin conditions such as eczema and acne.

Can you put dried rose petals in the bath?
Yes, absolutely! For the best homemade rose bath salts I recommend grinding them down before adding them to your bath salt mix but you can also use them whole. Just be sure to scoop them out and not let them clog up your drain!

Lynn says
How many 4oz jars will this recipe make?
Mariana says
Lynn,
Depending on how fine you grind down the rose petals (and other factors), this recipe yields somewhere between 1 1/2 and 1 3/4 cups of bath salts. 1 1/2 cups converts to 12 ounces. So, you may get 3 jars worth when using 4 ounce jars! If you wind up with a bit more because you choose to use 4-6 tablespoons of dried rose petals, you may end up with approximately 14 ounces of bath salts. So, you may be able to fill just under 4 jars with that!
You may need to get creative with how you fill each jar (example: leaving a bit of headspace in each and filling each jar equally OR filling each as much as possible while still being able to get an air tight lid on.) If you leave a bit of space at the top of each, you may be able to get more individual 4oz jars out of your batch!
Also consider: If you are using irregularly shaped jars (example: tube-shaped jars) you may get more or less to fit in each due to the size of the salts and rose petals used in the recipe! I hope this helps as you plan to make your own! There are many factors at play here! I hope this was helpful! Feel free to double the recipe to make more, if need be! Happy making!
